Gary Crosby (bass)
Artistic Director of Tomorrow’s Warriors and leader of Jazz Jamaica, is one of the UK’s most seasoned and highly-respected bass players with nearly four decades’ experience playing at the highest level
of performance on stages across the globe. A leader in the field of young Jazz artist development, Gary was awarded an OBE for Services to Music in 2009 and the Parliamentary Award for Jazz Education in 2012.
Nathaniel Facey (saxophone)
Nathaniel is the forefront of the jazz scene and the “unfathomably talented alto saxophonist” won the 2013 Jazz FM UK Instrumentalist of the Year. Best known for his work with the highly regarded band Empirical, who have just recorded their fourth album, he has worked with Jason Moran, Jack DeJohnette, Jerry Dammers, Courtney Pine, Tim Garland, Andrew McCormack and recorded saxophonist Denys Baptiste’s classic album Let Freedom Ring!. Nathaniel came through the ranks of Tomorrow’s Warriors and the programme is proud to now have him as one of their valued Music Leaders. Nathaniel is also a member of Crosby’s new quartet, Groundation.
Shirley Tetteh (Guitar)
Having discovering jazz four years ago with the help of Tomorrow's Warriors weekend programme at the Southbank Centre, Shirley Tetteh has continued to explore its rich heritage and tradition citing influences as diverse as contemporary guitarists Gilad Hekselman and Julian Lage right through to jazz guitar pioneers Eddie Lang and Django Reindhardt. Shirley has performed with the likes of alto saxophonist Zhenya Strigalev and the newly formed ensemble Nérija, and continues to attend workshops at the Tomorrow's Warriors under the tutelage of Gary Crosby and Nathaniel Facey.
Moses Boyd (Drums)
Drummer Moses Boyd was born in London and began playing drums at age 13 playing within various styles and musical settings from gospel, funk to rock and pop. At age 17, Moses got involved in jazz around London and since then Moses has the pleasure of working and performing across the world with a great array of artist such as Denys Baptiste, Gary Crosby, Soweto Kinch, Jay Phelps, Zara Mcfarlane and many more.
