Gabrielle Ducomble Quartet
8:00pm £10.00 adm

Gabrielle Ducomble - Vocals, Nicolas Meier - guitar, Maurizio Minardi - accordion/piano, Nick Kacal - bass

Rising star Gabrielle brings her special blend of Gallic charm and sophistication to Map Studio Cafe.

Singing in English and French, she performs Parisian-style jazz and tango from her recent album “J’ai Deux Amours, giving a fresh interpretation to classic songs by Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Serge Gainsbourg and Astor Piazzolla.

Her band, including some of Europe’s finest musicians in an authentic line-up, provides the perfect anchor for her superlative vocals. Expect an atmospheric evening of beautiful melodies, inventive solos and Gabrielle’s spine-tingling voice – “wonderfully evocative of a bygone era”.

“A top-notch evening” Harold Sanditen – Cabaret Scenes

“The Gabrielle Ducomble quintet blew us away” – Dave Lyons, Fleece Jazz

“Sings with rare grace and elegance, whether in her native French or English”  – Rich Rainlore

Joint-winner of 2011's Rainlore Jazz Albums of the Year Best Debut Album for J'ai Deux Amours

Belgian-born Gabrielle is rapidly putting her mark on the British jazz scene. Technically gifted and artistically at home in styles from contemporary jazz and latin to popular French chansons, this vocalist who, in 2003, reached the final of French “Pop Idol” and then studied jazz at the Guildhall, is now performing in many top London nightspots.

In 2012 Gabrielle completed a successful UK tour. Some recent engagements include the Royal Festival Hall, Pizza Express Dean Street, Hideaway, The Vortex, The Pheasantry, Porthcawl and Lichfield international jazz festivals.
